Ideas For Your Holidays In The UK

By Harold Demas

If you decide to spend your holidays in the UK, you will find that you have a wide choice of things to do and see. Whether you like the countryside, coast or city, there is something just for you. The variety that Great Britain offers is huge.

The British Isles have a variety of landscapes. You can choose whether you want to visit a busy city such as London, Manchester or Edinburgh or somewhere a bit more relaxing for example the Cornish coast or the rural bliss of the Cotswolds.

If city life is your thing, then head for London. Apart from finding the most fashionable shops in areas such as Bond Street, the capital is a great place if you are in search of culture and history. Night-life in the capital is vibrant, from the trendiest wine bars to night clubs and theatres, there is something in London for everyone.

But if you want a relaxing holiday, then you could visit the historic city of Bath. From there you can take a short trip to Stonehenge, and see for yourself this marvellous monument. Gladstonbury is a short drive away, and the town has a lot of quaint New Age shops for you to browse.

If you wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of a busy city, there are plenty of quaint English villages to visit. The Cotswolds is a particularly beautiful and rural area. You can choose to stay at a traditional English country cottage.

Cornwall has some of the UK's finest beaches, and there are activities such as water skiing, fishing or wind surfing on offer. The traditional fishing villages are very picturesque, and Cornwall is a fantastic place to go on an art centred holiday and just paint the beautiful seascapes. Cornwall has a large artistic community.

Holidays in the UK are not complete without a visit to a traditional British pub. No matter where you go in Great Britain, be it Land's End or John O'Groats, you are never far from a pint or two of the best ales on offer. Plus you can also enjoy a plate of good pub food after a full day of activities.
