Aluminum Gun Cases - the Ultimate Portable Safeguard of Your Firearms

By Shannon Hilson

While many sportsmen and hunters enjoy showing off their gun collection on the back window of their pickup truck, or hanging in their den, it is very easy to damage the weapons by not having them properly stored. Gun enthusiasts have long known that maintenance of their weapons require them to be locked in a secured storage case or safe, once they have been cleaned. Doing so will preserve their investment and protect the weapons from harmful external elements.

Safeguarding your weapons from excessive humidity, dust and water will keep them in pristine condition for a longer period of time. Damage caused by water and rust generally requires replacing key components of the weapon to ensure it will function properly. Excessive dust will attach itself to the oils within the working mechanisms and gun barrel causing extensive damage over time. Sometimes, even with repairs or restoration, your weapon can never be brought back to its original condition.

Purchasing a gun and rifle case, crafted with a tight waterproof seal, can keep it from excessive harmful damage. A high-quality gun case is typically constructed with three-digit combination locks, or key locks as a way to safeguard against theft and unauthorized use of the weapons. Average size or long dimensional rifle cases are typically crafted with three to four quality crafted latches making the case stronger, more durable and safeguarded when locked.

Less expensive rifle and gun cases manufactured with heavy plastics are typically not designed for airline transportation. Built from lower-end materials, these cases typically offer a low-level amount of security, simply because they are easy to break into, or fall apart. With no reinforcement, they can easily cause damage to the rifle when placed under something extremely heavy. Rifle cases fabricated from metal are highly susceptible to rust, which allows water and humidity to penetrate the case, causing damage to the contents. Aluminum rifle cases are fabricated with a reinforced frame, metal corners and heavy-duty handle all held together using quality noncorrosive rivets.

High-density interlocking foam material is typically lined on the inside of the aluminum firearm case, as a way to securely hold the gun or rifle firmly in place while it is being moved. Aluminum is one of the most durable but lightweight noncorrosive metals available to manufacturers. Constructed with anti-slip grip heavy-duty handles, these high quality aluminum cases allow easy transportation in all kinds of inclement weather, when taking weapons to the shooting range, or to hunt, out in the field.

For the serious gun owner with expensive weapons, storing your firearms in a high-quality well-crafted lockable aluminum gun or rifle case is an ideal way to keep your investment in pristine condition. Larger cases are commonly big enough to store two or three weapons, eliminating the need to purchase additional gun cases for each firearm. When determining which gun or rifle case is best suited for you, security and protecting your weapons from external elements should be at the top of the list.
