Women Motivational Speakers in Sports for 2012

By Jean-Pierre Prieur

Before Mary Alice Hill became the established women motivational speaker she is known to be, she was a track and field athlete aiming for the Olympics. She continued on to help other young and talented women athletes as a track and field coach to win the Olympics. Because of this feat, she was offered a job by the Colorado State University which was the beginning of her Athletic Director career to the Women's Athletic department. She also became an athletic director in San Diego University which was a first at that time because of her gender.

Being an athletic trainer not only requires knowledge in the sport chosen but a strong character. During Hill's fight for women equality, she has shown an intense passion towards this cause even standing up courageously in a case. With this and her wise judgment all throughout her career, she became the most respectable woman figure to have redefined women's equal right in sports.

On the other hand, becoming an athletic director was no small feat either. To be even considered a chance much less offered the job which was what happened with Hill and Colorado State University was an achievement during that time. The position entailed overtaking huge responsibilities not only to handle sports and physical activities of the whole campus but training and encouragement to the university team. It also required excellent coaching experience for several years. After this, she was offered another job to become an athletic director of San Diego State University.

Women have always had less freedom when it came to sports though society does not openly acknowledge or discuss the issue. There are as much right for women to enjoy baseball, soccer and any other sports as men would. Sports is not just a form of entertainment but a way to get in touch with one's culture or represent one's country. It has become such an essential part of people's lives even to women. This is why it is important to have women stand up just as Hill did to let others become aware of the impact of gender inequality. Fortunately for women all over the world, this gap between men and women is continually dwindling thanks to actions by people such as that of Hill.

Mary Alice Hill was also struck a major victory for women sports in a landmark Title IX sexual discrimination case as well. Hill sued Colorado State University for unfairly not renewing her contract because of her outspoken advocacy for women athletics and women sports in general.

There are many benefits to listening to an inspirational speaker like Mary Alice Hill. Having your team or organization listen to such a motivational speaker will help motivate your team to do better and bond them together. Her character, her story, and her determination in the face of unfair practices will inspire all those who hear her words and help them succeed at life.
