The Best Format for Submitting Volleyball Recruiting Videos

By John Forman

At this point YouTube is the best way to get your college volleyball recruiting video in the hands of coaches. Even the most helpless of them in terms of computers, videos, etc. will have little trouble viewing an internet volleyball recruiting video that way One of the things coaches struggle with is a video file or DVD sent in a format their PC system doesn't accept. Usually if the footage comes through a link to another company or online server it works nicely, but many coaches aren't familiar enough with all of the available alternatives these days to be able to handle it if there is an issue.

What coaches have come to love about YouTube is just clicking the link and reviewing the footage. Of course there's quite a bit to distract a coach on the page, with all the other video options and adverts. Yes, coaches can ramble off the track as well, but it's a pretty foolproof way to get them to observe you. Listen to me, foolproof is the way to go with college coaches, particularly during hectic times of year, like during the volleyball season.

Remember, volleyball recruiting video photos is simply to get coaches to come observe you in person. The video will not land you a scholarship or a position on the squad in most situations, nevertheless it will permit enough evaluation material to lure a coach to come to see you in play, or to request further specific video footage. Do not be concerned about putting together the perfect volleyball recruiting video. Just get something together that lasts about 8 minutes with skills and a little bit of match video.

Oh and be precise about what you show in the volleyball recruiting video. If you're displaying yourself as a setter, don't trouble including serve receive. If you are a middle blocker, don't show outside hitting reps. College volleyball is skill-specific. Show the abilities for the position you play.

Lastly, do not squander time showing serving. The power to serve the ball over the net is something college coaches take for granted in their recruits! The only time you should bother including footage of serving is if you have a particularly strong jump serve. Even then, only a couple of reps is required. Don't include five minutes of serving.
