If you really want to delight your child - or yourself - you should arrange to have a Disneyland Character meal. Even you were a kid back then, and you just might find yourself just as amused as the little ones when in the company of these Disneyland characters. This is an interactive experience neither you nor your kid (or kids) would want to miss.
Making a reservation is the very first step. You will have to call the Disneyland Vacation Planning Services Department who can certainly help you out here. Reservations can be made up to sixty days in advance, so don't leave this to the last minute. It's easier than you think when trying to plan a Disneyland vacation and book it simultaneously.
Character breakfasts take place each morning at the park. No reservation needed - you can just stroll in anytime you are at the park. These breakfasts take place in many of the parks restaurants, but Goofy's Kitchen is a great place to start. You can find it at the Disneyland Hotel, and there are meals for diners of all ages. And if you've got toddlers, you (and your wallet) will be pleased to know that children under three can eat free of charge. Goofy and Pluto are the mainstays of this restaurant, but you'll see other characters saunter in from time to time. You may need to wait for a long time if you don't reserve ahead, so make sure you do so if you want to take your family to Goofy's Kitchen.
If dining with Princesses is important, than Ariel's Grotto is the place to be. Serving three course meals, this is elegant dining that both kids and adults can enjoy. Different princesses will pass by your table one at a time and join you for your meal. Reservations for Ariel's Grotto are also recommended. This is one place in the park where both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are served.
Discussing Character Meals would not be complete without the Storyteller's Cafe. Take note, though, that you can only see the Characters during breakfast. While time is not spent at each individual table, the Characters do interact with the children as a group. Both buffet and menu dining are available, and again, reservations are recommended. Minnie Mouse and Lilo and Stitch are just a few of the Disney mainstays who have their own Character Breakfast. You'll want to reserve ahead for Breakfast with Minnie and Friends, in particular.
The Character Meal is a must in every Disneyland Vacation, so make sure you have one or two planned for the family. This is something that your child will remember forever and interacting with the famous Disney characters that we all know and love is part of what Disneyland is all about! And before we forget, we have to stress once again that reserving in advance is highly recommended for all the above restaurants!
